'Doorkeepers to Gabon' Ps. 84:10
Solvig Life

I have waited as long as possible to give someone road directions for how to get to our house without the use of any street names.  It seems that I will have to give it my best shot and hope that you don’t get here too late. You will be staying downstairs in the jail and if it is late, the key will be with our night guard – Gary (he is from Mali).

So, you will be arriving on National Route 1 into Libreville.  You will hit the outskirts of Libreville around Pk 18 and you will continue to about Pk 5.  Somewhere in-between, you will pass a few gas stations on your left (Total, Shell) and then around a few curves and up a slight hill.  You will be able to see more of Libreville on your left at this point because there will be a hillside on your right.  You will come to a sharp curve to your right and then see a gas station on your left, the road will also widen.  You will want to get into your right lane as you will be exiting off to your right (don’t have a clue if there is a sign to where you are heading).  If you go over the overpass, then you will have to turn around and go back to the exit.

Now you should be on the “express highway” headed towards the airport.  You will go about 1km and come to a stop light.  Continue through the light for another 2km and take your 1st exit off the expressway.  At the top of the exit you will make a left turn and go back over the expressway. You will then come to a “rond-pointe / round about”, circle around until you are heading up the hill and veer to your right.  You will then want to stay far right and go up the steepest part of the hill. Go about .5 km and the road dead ends into another road and you will make a right turn.  Stay on this road for about 5 km (you will pass the Cameroon Embassy on your right, the University on your left, the Nigerian embassy on your right and the Total gas station on your left, a busy marketplace area with a turnoff to your right (don’t take it), but continue straight and then pass the city prison on your left and finally come to another road with a stoplight (named Gros Bouquet stoplight).

At the light and make a left, go 25 yards and take your 1st left turn and then a sharp right turn and head down a hill.  You will go 200 meters or until the road curves right and then it makes a sharp left, BUT you will go straight (cul de sac).  We are the 5th house on the right, past a Chinese medical clinic and just after the empty lot.  We have a dark blue gate with matching walls.  If you get should lost you will want to know where our neighborhood area is located.  Ask directions to Gros Bouquet / Plaine Orety / Cite Georges Pompidou (our actual neighborhood).

Our phone numbers 73.24.39 or 06.25.09.76

See you soon, Arnie
